Seven incredible images from the construction of the Aberdeen Bay Wind Farm

Construction on the Aberdeen Bay Wind Farm has begun and I’m in awe of the images appearing online.

One of the world’s largest floating cranes is being used to lift sections into place and it dwarfs everything it is near.

If you get the chance to see the vessel moored in Peterhead or Dundee while it works between the ports and Aberdeen Bay do. It’s a sight to see.

The steel foundations being installed for the turbines weigh as much as 10 jumbo jets and will stand taller than Marischal College!

The wind farm looks like it’s going to be much bigger than any of us expected, and I’ve no doubt it will split opinion. For me, the engineering is incredible and I’m told it will generate the equivalent of 70% of Aberdeen’s domestic electricity demand once complete, staggering!
